A 13-year-old boy using a mud bike died in a crash Sunday afternoon as he was fleeing police on a Florida freeway, a report stated.
The teenager, recognized by household to WPBF 25 as Stanley Davis Jr., misplaced management of the grime bike and careened right into a median on U.S. Freeway 1 in Boynton Seaside, police stated.
Davis was ejected off the bike and slammed into an indication on the median, the report stated. He died on the scene.
Officers with the Boynton Seaside Police Division had tried to tug over Davis after he was allegedly driving erratically.
Surveillance footage obtained by WPBF 25 reveals the start of the pursuit – as the teenager speeds away from a police SUV that attempted to tug him over within the parking zone of a fuel station.
The grime biker could be seen making a neglected of the fuel station earlier than heading in the wrong way about 10 seconds later – with the cop shut behind.
The officer concerned within the chase has been positioned on administrative responsibility because the Florida Freeway Patrol leads an investigation of the crash.
“Our hearts go out to the family members of this young person,” Boynton Seaside Police Chief Michael Gregory stated in a press release to the information outlet.
“They can trust that we and our law enforcement partners will be conducting a series of thorough and meticulous investigations into the circumstances of what occurred,” Gregory stated.
