Elderly woman killed by family pit bull in gruesome attack on Long Island

A 70-year-old Long Island woman was killed after she was viciously attacked by her family’s pit bull in Albertson on Wednesday afternoon, based on police.

Marina Verriest’s husband returned dwelling from work at round 1 p.m. and found his spouse’s mutilated physique being dragged via the yard by their 7-year-old canine, based on Nassau County Police and neighbors.

It’s not clear when the attack started, however police stated when the husband arrived at dwelling, “the dog was still eating on the body.”

The husband instantly known as the police. After they arrived, the canine turned and charged on the first officer on the scene, who then opened fireplace, killing the canine.

EMS arrived on scene and declared the sufferer useless.

The officer who shot the canine is now receiving remedy in the hospital for trauma after seeing the carnage.

“The scene was pretty horrific. We don’t know what time the attack took place but there was obviously a lot of mutilation on the body and the arm, the face, the legs,” Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder stated at a press convention.

“The officer saw something that was very traumatic, we take care of our officers and make sure they’re ok.”

The canine belonged to the couple’s step-son who had died in a bike accident just a few weeks in the past. The son had been dwelling at dwelling and police consider that the canine had been dwelling with the family for its complete life, Ryder stated.

“We don’t know what turned the dog or why the dog turned on the woman,” he stated. “There had been no previous domestic calls to the home or calls regarding the dog.”
