Queens Assemblyman Clyde Vanel crash landed a small airplane he was piloting on a Long Island seashore Friday afternoon in a scary scene that was captured on video.
Vanel told CBS 2 that he and a buddy took off in his single-engine Beechcraft from Brookhaven Airport round 2 p.m. “to practice some maneuvers” within the good climate.
Suddenly, nonetheless, a nice day within the skies turned to terror when the airplane’s engine misplaced energy.
“Of course I was panicked. I didn’t understand what was going on with the engine,” Vanel stated.
But Vanel regained his composure and stated that his emergency coaching kicked in.
“Airspeed, find the best place to land, communicate and then exit,” he stated. “The best place for me to land was a small area that had beach that wasn’t around people, that wasn’t around stuff.”
Only one girl was on the Shoreham seashore on the time — Caelyn Canace, who captured the heartstopping touchdown on video, obtained by CBS 2.

He stated he hopes to get again up within the air quickly.
The FAA is investigating the crash.
