Children Hit By Train In Germany, 1 Killed: Officials

A baby was killed and one other was significantly injured on Thursday after they had been hit by a prepare alongside a railway line within the western German city of Recklinghausen, native authorities mentioned.

Bild newspaper mentioned the victims had been dragged by a freight prepare for a number of hundred meters (yards).

“It’s horrible. Children and trains and at such a young age, it’s just horrible what happened here and one can only hope the parents will have the strength to overcome this great misfortune,” Herbert Reul, the inside minister within the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, advised journalists on the scene.

“Why, how come, these are all questions that no one can yet answer and wouldn’t solve anything,” Reul mentioned.
